When will Mauritius open its borders due to COVID-19?
First of all, we would like to pay attention to the fact that Mauritius is one of the best countries worldwide for dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. Many confirm that several countries could learn much from Mauritius. As confirmed by the World Health Organization, the island population could’ve been at great risk if COVID-19 would take over. Due to immediate action taken after the first infections, the country controlled the situation. However, with great risks for the economical situation and tourism industry. A full lockdown of the country closed borders and after reopening strict quarantine regulations for anyone entering.
The way the pandemic was controlled does concern many and the Mauritian residents have many different opinions. Even though the pandemic was under control, many Mauritians lost their jobs, did not have enough finances to take care of their families, lost their businesses (think of tourist guides, diving schools etc.) and have been living under strict regulations. Besides that, Mauritian families are widely spread around the globe and were not able to see each other for long times. That also counts for us.
Altogether, the island needs you when Mauritius open its borders again! And above all, the Mauritians need you! And admit it, you need a tropical break on a paradise island after all pandemic issues too. Lovely travellers visiting our travel blog, we are so proud and happy to welcome you back to our island!
